Overnight the museum was transformed into a menagerie of Unnatural History – fishfingers swimming in a gold-fish bowl, hot-dogs and chicken nuggets. Paintings were placed in amongst the historic collections of Old Masters, sculptures and other pieces dotted around throughout the museum displays. The main entrance was transformed into a sculpture hall, accompanied by a burnt out ice-cream van that pumped out an eerie sound-track of warped tunes, whilst a giant ice-cream melted on its roof. Before long, people queued around the block to get into the exhibition, some as long as seven hours just to be part of this unique phenomenon. Over 100 works by the artist – most of which had not been shown before – were displayed.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0474/5546/9718/products/banksy-vs-bristol-museum-copper-275229.jpg?v=1601524903
peckham-rock-framed
Peckham Rock (Framed)

Entitled Peckham Rock, the painting depicted a primitive man pushing a supermarket trolley. As we were stumbling from pub to pub in Shoreditch we walked through Rivington Street which was THE perfect place to do something illegal, you had the tunnel to paint in and it would be easy to close the road off as no one really used it at this point.

Just one week later we were back with 2 buckets of paint, a letter and some painting company signs we nicked off a building site. The letter was forged from an arts organisation wishing us luck with the ‘Tunnel Vision Project’ in case we got a pull. An hour later the walls were painted, and the stencils were up, and we held an opening party three days later with beers and hip hop bumping out the back of a van. The police arrived but let us carry on and the petrol generator for the sound system caught on fire, but it was a night that goes down in history.

At that point, it was all about doing favours for each other to make things easier to survive; so we were helping Banksy put up, sell some works and pay the bills – and at the same time, we were just getting things together to open up a company that was skate, art and music-oriented and Banksy kindly agreed to do our logo for us – the Clown logo was born in July 2000."

-Clown

From Banksy's hotel "The Walled Off Hotel" in Bethlehem, Palestine. Limited edition box set only for sale at the hotel shop.

Dimensions: 10 x 10 x 1.75 Inches / 25 x 25 x 4.5 cm

Medium: Box set featuring a print of Banksy's 'Tower Swing' set against backing board in addition to an original concrete piece of Palestine's Separation Wall with hand-painted stripes in the colors of the Palestinian flag - all encased in a wooden shadowbox with glass display.

Provenance: Comes with the original receipt and card from the hotel.
