ARTIST BIO

Joe Reihsen was born in 1979 in Minnesota, United States, he lives and works in Los Angeles. His paintings are enigmatic abstractions that beckon viewers into a world where textures, shapes and colors converge, capturing collisions between surface and the layers beneath. Reihsen’s canvases combine motion with a heavy stillness, inviting contemplation on the fluidity of perception and the transformative power of abstract expression.

Joe Reihsen attended the San Francisco Art Institute, CA and received a BFA for Painting and New Genres in 2005, and an MFA at the University of California in Santa Barbara, CA in 2008. His work was presented by Adrian Sutton Gallery's VSPACE in 2021. A further solo exhibition is planned at Adrian Sutton Gallery Paris 2025. His works are included in noticeable collections such as Société Générale Collection, Paris.
