ARTIST BIO

TABBY is a renowned Austrian street-art figure who has sprayed stencils all over the world. TABBY’s work is characterized by his sense of humor and critique of the establishment. Active since 2013, the anonymous artist is stylistically indebted to Blek le Rat and Banksy. TABBY uses stencils and simple visual devices to provoke laughter and outrage and to sometimes offer political commentary. The artist often juxtaposes the familiar with the unexpected. In one mural painting stenciled across multiple sites in Vienna in 2016, the artist depicted two versions of then-U.S.-President-elect Donald Trump. The twin figures lean toward each other as if to kiss, with the words “Love Trumps All” emblazoned above their heads. Despite his pointed cultural criticism, TABBY’s main ambition is to uplift his audiences through his work.
